Come downtown to shop, have some lunch!

Have you heard that Brasch's Bratwurst has their mobile kitchen trailer in downtown Herington today? They will be open for lunch starting at 11 a.m. Their food offerings include homemade bratwurst, bierocks, schnitzels sandwiches, currywurst and German Potato Salad.

Here are some items we've had added in to our glass case recently. The items for sale are a rare published literature, including a first edition from 1948 of Llana of Gathol and a 1922 edition of The Chessmen of Mars, both published in the U.S. by Edgar Rice Burroughs, Inc., in Tarzana, Calif. There's also an antique baby doll and a handmade wagon for sale.

We also have a letter written on May 3, 1912, which talks about the Titanic, how the British couldn't build good ships like the Americans could and how the Titanic sank. The picture is signed by by Millvina Dean, the last known survivor of the Titanic. There is also an original newspaper advertisement for the Mauretania and the Lusitania, mentioned in the letter. The Lusitania is noted as a strong ship, which was sunk to start the U.S. involvement in World War I. Price on sale is $2,150.

We are open today until 6 p.m. at 9 S. Broadway St., Herington, KS. Come in and browse our antiques inside our vendor booths and our consigned antique and quality used furniture items.

Look how far we've come since our opening day!

Here's a view of the first day we opened at Prairie Chic. We had eight items for sale the first day. Today, we only have three of these items left (the high chair, the sewing caddy and a small side table). Below are the pictures of our store as it looks today and all the items we have for sale today.

Collecting handcrafted items, but still looking for more!

At Prairie Chic Handcrafts & Antiques, the concept of handcrafted items is included in our name. We already carry several different handcrafted items in the store, but we're always looking to carry even more!
We have a handmade wagon made by a local, well known Herington woman, Evelyn Haire.

We carry handmade jewelry pieces made by Herington woman Rose Lee.

A local artist, Misty Baker, also has some handmade pictures, designs and framed pieces in her booth space.

We have multiple handcrafted items, repurposed and decorated by Brittney Guerrero.

New decorated windows, courtesy of Denise!

Store owners Mark and Denise Homer, of San Antonio, came and visited Prairie Chic and the Herington area over the Independence Day weekend. Some of our shoppers and others traveling by may have noticed the new designs on our windows. Denise painted them to add some flair, give the store some kick, and make our image more chic, for sure!

We have flowers on the front of our center window, so that people passing by now have a 3-D representation on the outside of our store during our open hours! That was also Denise's idea.

Did you also know that we have some new items inside our store, possibly since your last visit? Our vendors are always adding new things to their booth spaces or on to our consignment sales floor, so feel free to stop in and see us when you have a chance!
