Customers share handcrafted pieces made from items purchased here

Sometimes our customers send us pictures of their creations after they have renewed a piece they bought from our store. Here are some photos of those upgrades that we have received so far!

A Herington woman bought the yellow dress on the left for a costume for her granddaughter to dress up like Belle Starr, the outlaw that ran with Jesse James. Here is the outcome of the full costume view! 

Here is a well worn black and green dresser that a Fort Riley woman bought from our store.

She turned that into this dresser for her daughter.

Here is another rough dresser that a Council Grove woman bought.

It needed some TLC and got turned into this creation!

Sometimes, our customers will find a unique use for something they buy here, such as this wooden drawer separator box used to display nail polish colors.

Come celebrate our first anniversary with us!

We are celebrating our first anniversary on Friday!!

We having Lemon Cake from Classy Cakes By Design and Red Velvet Cake from Sweet Creations to celebrate our anniversary at Prairie Chic (9 S. Broadway St., Herington) at 3 p.m. Friday.

The Visit Herington Tourism Group is also having a Cruise In and Street Dance from 7-11 p.m. Friday (either downtown OR it will be canceled, depending on the weather).

Then, we will also have the car show 8-1 Saturday DOWNTOWN HERINGTON and drag races 2-6 Saturday at the Herington Regional Airport!

Recruiting efforts underway to prepare for upcoming events

We're drawing nearer to the 300 likes mark now on our Prairie Chic Facebook page. We would like to take a minute to thank everyone who has recently added a "like" on our page!

Store Manager Stephanie Gilbert is working to recruit vendors to sell their antique or handcrafted items inside our store. We want your upcycled items, your handmade or homemade or handcrafted items, no matter if they are metal art, yarn or fabric pieces, painted items, etc. Our store vendor options, rates and sizes are located on the 'More about the Store' tab above.

We are working to fill our store event more in preparation for the April 24-25 Cruise In and Car Show events planned in downtown Herington. 

April 25 is also the Prairie Chic first anniversary, so stay tuned for information on our store celebration also set for that weekend!! We drew in hundreds of shoppers last year during our opening weekend, when we started with only seven items on our sales floor. Man, have we really grown in the past 11 months. Here are some updated photos of items we now have available for purchase inside our store.

Tables available for purchase, military cabinets sold same day at Prairie Chic

We have just one night stand in the store right now, available for purchase at $14. Many customers have come in looking for one, so if you have a vintage, an antique one or a quality used night stand that you are no longer needing in your home, we can sell it on consignment for you!

Sometimes customers ask what items sell best in our store. Although it's hard to pinpoint just one item does well, tables usually go out faster than other items do. We have a wide variety of tables of different sizes, shapes, lengths, heights, colors and materials. If you are interested in an item, I have a 24-hour hold policy to allow you to take time to come see it for yourself. Feel free to inquire about something you are seeking but that you do not see pictured. Also, if you are creative -- or even if you'd like to learn more about being creative when it comes to scrapbooks, don't forget about the Mini Album Class on Feb. 21. The cost is $20, which includes the class fee and supplies. Those interested in the class just need to bring 10 photos sized 4" x 6", or more smaller photos to fill a 5" x 8 1/2" album. New vendor, more items added inside Prairie Chic

Connie Jones, of Enterprise, has added some of her handcrafted items in to Prairie Chic earlier this week. She has 12 children, 38 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren, in addition to crocheting and window decorating to keep her active.

We have several vendors inside our store now, but we still have more room for more sellers! So, how much does it cost to rent vendor space there? The booth rates are about $10 per foot a month.

• 4' booth -- $43/mo. for a 12 month lease or $50/mo. for 6 month lease (plus two 48" walls)

• 6' booth -- $65/mo. for a 12 month lease or $75/mo. for 6 month lease (plus 48" and 7' walls)

• 8' booth -- $85/mo. for a 12 month lease or $95/mo. for 6 month lease (plus  48" and 7' walls)
• A full end cap is $50/mo. and half end caps are $30/mo. for a 6-month lease.

Booths are 7' tall and 30" deep. The separation is a 30" deep and 48" high wall on either side of the booth. Note: There is also a 15% commission on all booth sales, which will go down to 10% as sales increase.

We are offering our special vendor rates $2/sq. ft. in advance, $3/sq. ft. on the day of the event) for you to sell your items from your own table on a "cash and carry" basis. Roger and Sabrina Burt, with 2 Guns Barbeque, will be selling Pulled Pork Sandwiches and Smokehouse Chili to help pay for their recent medical expenses.
  
• Extra Christmas Shopping Days, We will be open for special hours of 1-7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 22 and 2-6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 23, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 24 (or by appointment outside those hours - call me at (785) 571-3955) to offer shoppers more time for LAST MINUTE PURCHASES!

Competition, art class set to be held this weekend!
