Customers share handcrafted pieces made from items purchased here

Sometimes our customers send us pictures of their creations after they have renewed a piece they bought from our store. Here are some photos of those upgrades that we have received so far!
A Herington woman bought the yellow dress on the left for a costume for her granddaughter to dress up like Belle Starr, the outlaw that ran with Jesse James. Here is the outcome of the full costume view!
Here is a well worn black and green dresser that a Fort Riley woman bought from our store.
She turned that into this dresser for her daughter.
Here is another rough dresser that a Council Grove woman bought.
It needed some TLC and got turned into this creation!
Sometimes, our customers will find a unique use for something they buy here, such as this wooden drawer separator box used to display nail polish colors.
Do you have before and after pictures of something you have purchased from our store? If so, email them to Stephanie Gilbert, store manager, at PrairieChicKansas@gmail.com.

New handmade cards added, preparation for two area school reunions continue

We have another new vendor at Prairie Chic! Scrappin' Creations by JMA has now moved into some wall space at Prairie Chic, using clothespins to hang her handmade cards! We are still looking for more store vendors who make handcrafted items, or have antiques they wish to sell in rented space as low as $25 for a three month period for a 4' x 4' space.
Scrappin' Creations used a screen door for their display!
All cards are $4. There are a wide variety of occasional and general greeting cards in our selection!
Father's Day and Memorial Day or other patriotic cards are among the cards offered in the store.
We also have several local pieces available for alumni visiting for the Herington and Hope All-School reunions this weekend. Here are some items we have that may interest our customers traveling from out of town.
This miniature Herington mug is $100.
The Herington High School Building souvenir is $25.
An simple orange vase is available for $3.50.
These are pictures taken in the local area, printed on canvas, priced from $45-$75 depending on size!

We are Prairie Chic Handcrafts and Antiques at 9 S. Broadway Herington, KS. Come on in and consign your furniture here, or check out our other vendor booths with vintage and handmade items while you are here, or consider us if you need climate-controlled indoor storage units on a monthly basis, also. Recruiting efforts underway to prepare for upcoming events

We're drawing nearer to the 300 likes mark now on our Prairie Chic Facebook page. We would like to take a minute to thank everyone who has recently added a "like" on our page!
Store Manager Stephanie Gilbert is working to recruit vendors to sell their antique or handcrafted items inside our store. We want your upcycled items, your handmade or homemade or handcrafted items, no matter if they are metal art, yarn or fabric pieces, painted items, etc. Our store vendor options, rates and sizes are located on the 'More about the Store' tab above.

We are working to fill our store event more in preparation for the April 24-25 Cruise In and Car Show events planned in downtown Herington.
April 25 is also the Prairie Chic first anniversary, so stay tuned for information on our store celebration also set for that weekend!! We drew in hundreds of shoppers last year during our opening weekend, when we started with only seven items on our sales floor. Man, have we really grown in the past 11 months. Here are some updated photos of items we now have available for purchase inside our store.

U.S 77 now open following KDOT bridge replacement project completion

Have you heard the news? The U.S. 77 road construction, just east of Herington has now been completed and the highway is once again open for traffic through the local area. The Kansas Department of Transportation project replaced a highway bridge with a box culvert.
It's warm enough today to have our front doors open for business -- literally open for your arrival!

Are you traveling from out of town and need to know how to get here? The Prairie Chic store is located at 9 S. Broadway St., Herington, Kan. Here is the Google Map link to help you find your way here.

If you are headed west from Council Grove, travel 24.0 miles east on U.S. 56. Then, at the four-way stop at the intersection of U.S. 77 and U.S. 56, go straight onto Business 56 until you come to Broadway Street. Then turn right to head north 0.2 miles (about four blocks) to Prairie Chic, which is located on the west side (left) of the street.

Or, to come north from the U.S. 50 round-about in Florence, you would travel 30.4 miles on U.S. 77. Then, turn left at the "Y" just north of 300 Avenue, and follow Business 56 through town. (The road will take a sharp right turn at Trapp Street, and you will go four more blocks). Turning left onto Broadway Street and go 0.2 miles north, finding Prairie Chic on the left, just north of Day Street and Central National Bank.
The view of the Prairie Chic building, with a mural painted by Milt Fleming, as shown from 100 block of South Broadway, next to the Central National Bank.

If you are coming south from exit #295 on I-70 in Junction City, head south on U.S. 77 for 26 miles and turn right onto Arnold Street. Follow the road 0.5 miles to the first stop sign on D Street. Turn left and travel 0.2 miles until you get to Main Street (after a small bridge and an open lot on the right). Turn right and travel 0.2 miles until the stop sign at Broadway Street. Turn left and Prairie Chic is located after the second stop sign, on the right side of the road.
If you are headed in from the north and come in through town, this is the view of our building on Broadway Street from the intersection of Walnut Street.

We offer climate-controlled indoor storage units on a monthly basis. We have 10' x 10' for $105 a month or 5' x 7' for $65 a month, plus a $20 one-time administration fee to start your lease.
